There were many things that were wrong in the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America. First of all there were many defects involved in the articles. The financial base was missing in the articles. The articles also lacked the basic emergence of the foreign policy. There were many other reasons why the Articles of Confederation failed to take place and had to be replaced. The Articles of Confederation was the first official document of the United States of America at the time of the independence from the British rule. It was written in the summer of 1776.
The articles state that the United States of America is a 'perpetual union'. It basically states that any formation or agreement between the two states can only happen with the proper permission of the Congress. The Congress was later known as the Congress of Confederation.

I too would like to know at least some of the "many" reasons why the Articles of Confederation needed improvement. Seeing as the Congress of the Confederation was hard pressed to form a quorum after the war, because the new and sovereign states enjoyed their independence, and they felt no need to expand the powers of the war alliance that the the treaty had established, what specifically was the great need? Why not just ammend the articles? Who was behind nationalizing the Americas?
