Hip-hop fashion is basically a distinctive style of dress. It has its roots with the styles adopted by the African-American young people living in New York and Los Angeles. In the beginning of 1980, a number of established fashion brands and dedicated sports wear brands identified themselves to the emerging hip hop scene. The hip-hop icons wore clothing items like jogging tracks, sheepskin and leather jackets. Then, another emergence was that of the popular haircuts that ranged from the Jheri curl to the Hi-top fade. The altter was popularized by the artist Will Smith among others.
