What Awards Did Transamerica The Film Win?

Transamerica won awards at the Golden Globe and was also nominated for the Academy Awards in 2005. This comedy drama was produced by the Weinstein Company and IFC Films. Felicity Huffman won a Golden Globe for her role.

The film is about a pre-operative transsexual called as Bree, played by Felicity Huffman. She goes on a road trip along with her son Toby, played by Kevin Zegers. The two have been separated for a long time and she was unaware of the existence of her son. She resides in a poor section of LA, working two jobs to scrape up money for her sexual reassignment surgery when she ferrets out about the son she had fathered as a male, who is now a jailed teenage runaway. Bree begins to realize that she must confront her past, as it is a part of who she is.
