When Was Norwich City Football Club Formed?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Norwich City Football Club was founded in 1902. The club was considered amateur until 1905 when it joined the Southern League, which would later become the Third Division South of the Football League.

Norwich's greatest success is winning the League Cup twice in both 1962 and 1985.

The original nickname for Norwich City Football Club was the Citizens, but this didn't last long. 'The Canaries' became much more popular due to the town's enjoyment in breeding canaries as a hobby. This is still their nickname to this day.

The club plays at it's home ground of Carrow Road which has a capacity of just over 26,000 people. They currently play in the Championship division and finished in 9th place in the 2005/06 season. They were relegated from the Premiership in 2004/05 and were expected to be promoted the following season, but unfortunately this has not been the case.
