The Golden Age of General Relativity basically is the phase lasting roughly from 1960 to 1975 through out which the research of general relativity was conducted. Throughout this phase, a number of concepts and expressions which persist to inspire the imagination of gravitational researchers were established, like black holes and 'gravitational singularity'. During the same period, in strictly related development, the research of physical cosmology came into mainstream and the Big Bang became well recognized. Quiet a few simultaneous paradigm shifts distinguished the Golden Age of universal relativity. Primarily, the Big Bang turned into the canonical cosmological representation.

The Golden Age also saw the foremost worthy competitor to general relativity, and also the foremost "precision tests" of gravitational theories. This phase also witnessed quiet a few astounding discoveries in observational astronomy.
