Before Egypt was conquered by Rome, both men and women wore the same kind of garments which were made from big pieces of material draped around the body intricately. This material used to be very richly decorated with threads and embroidery. These garments were put together, for both men and women especially the rich people, with the help of a belt and several pins. By placing pins in a certain way, long and wide sleeves were created in the garment. However, after they were conquered the fashion in Egypt was mainly influenced by the Persian Greeks and by the Assyrians. Fashion more or less remained the same for the next century. As modernization has now taken over, most Egyptian women still wear veils from head to toe. Fashion in Egypt is no doubt more like another modern country, however, the ancient touch can be seen in the way many men and women dress.
