Can Nerve Damage In The Lower Back Cause Incontinence?

I have a friend who was in a car accident and has herniated discs and is now experiencing incontinence and is being told that it has nothing to do with the nerves in her back. I also had a herniated disc and had 3 back surgeries and when I was in treatment for this. My doctor would always ask if I had any loss of control of the bowels or urine and if I did to call right away. Just trying to find out if this could cause the incontinence.

I'm sorry to say, but this is true. I have two discs in my lower back that were operated on and I have incontinence issues. I wear depends and I'm only 50 years old. I didn't think that was going to happen until much later in life. Peace
