 Unusual hotels have certain unique features that make them stand out of the commonplace. From the setting and the location to the architecture and the service and the view that they offer their unique selling proposition features one or all of the above mentioned.

Some unusual hotel settings include underground locations like situated in caves, theme hotels, island hotels or situated underwater, desert or oasis hotels, hotels situated on boats and trains or floating ones, jungle hotels, castle and palace hotels, resort hotels or hotels situated in outrageous locations like prisons, lighthouses or built as tree houses or out of ice.

Some of the famous unusual hotels are the Cuevas Pedro Antonio de Alarcon, a cave hotel in Spain, the Jukkasjarvi Ice hotel in Sweden, the Jules Undersea Lodge and the Library Hotel in the US, the Treetops hotel in Kenya and the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai which is built in the shape of a sail on an island and is one of the tallest hotel in the World at 321 m.
