Why Are Our Rights Being Taken Away?

Answer Question

Without know the circumstances,  I can only tell you that normally rights of parents are revoked only if an investigation has been done and the parents have been found to be abusive, neglectful, or is some way not capable of caring for a child.  The charges can range from drug use within the family to some sort of sexual addiction.  The problem can be the home (living conditions) within the home...unsanitary or unsafe.  That is based on the assumption that you are the parents of the child.

If this is a child that has been living with you (such as a grandchild) and you never got legal custody through the courts and the parent (s) now wish to reclaim the child, that is the reason.  It matters very little the amount of time the child has been in your home. It is a hard and painful lesson to learn,  but anytime you take a child into your home with the thought that you will raise the child into adulthood, for the child's sake and yours, do it through the court system. You never know what the future will bring.  If this is what has happened to you, you can still fight this via the court system and may just win.  Get a lawyer, prove the parents unfit and the judge may give the child back to you.
