What Are Some Nice Christmas Traditions To Establish With My Children?

Answer Question

Track Santa's progress from mid-November through to Boxing Day.

    Don't forget the Advent calendars!

If you have time and inclination, a few weekends before, make popcorn chains (pop corn and string it together) or paper chains (loops bits of colourful paper together).

You can make home-made cards for family members, and the children could even make up their own stockings, too.

Give the children some new pajamas to wear on Christmas eve.  They get something to open early, and they look good in the Christmas morning photos.

Make biscuits, popcorn or mince pies together on Christmas eve.  Share a few out while watching a Christmasy movie, but mostly they're for Father Christmas!

Spread reindeer food on the lawn just before you go to bed.

Have some "fair" and consistent rules on who gets to open which presents when (youngest goes first, whatever suits you).

In the afternoon, go for a long walk and come back to hot chocolate and mince pies.

I cut out a shape of one of my shoes in a piece of cardboard and use it as a stencil to spray artificial snow on floor leading up to their presents they throw food out for the reindeers you can buy pretend food in shops or mix porridge & glitter together, give Santa a mince pie & drink, and if you haven't got a fire place for him to come down how about a special key on a ribbon to hang outside the front door (but not one that fits your door ).
Dont forget for your child to write their letter to Santa.
I also dress up as a elf but then I always had a vivid imagination . Just have fun it will be their memories for ever more.

One of the Christmas traditions that meant the most to my family when the kids were growing up was our advent wreathe.
We would light the apporpriate candle or candles, sit around the wreathe in a circle and sing Christmas song and pray for our family. My adult children still do this with their own kids.

We always got a live tree, and then planted it in the yard. It is great to look at all the trees and think of the memories associated with them.

We always had the real Santa come the house.

We always wrapped gifts for children who didn't have anything else. We would donate them to schools or other places that took care of delivering them.

As adults we each wrap something we no longer want and them exchange them Christmas Eve. Sometimes another person's junk is your treasure. Sometimes it is really fun and funny to watch something unusal  be opened.
