How Was A Telescope Invented?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A telescope basically is a device made for examination of distant objects. The expression is generally referred to optical telescopes, though there are telescopes for the majority of spectrum of electromagnetic radiation and also for other signal types.

It is said that the first telescope must have been Assyrian crystal lenses, though the Visby lenses uncertainly hint that the technology was identified with the Arabs and Persians. At times Leonard Digges is recognized for the invention of the telescope in the 1570s, but generally the credit for accumulating the first telescope goes to an unidentified Dutch spectacle maker around the 1608.

Some people name that individual as Hans Lippershey, though Jacob Metius and Zacharias Jansen also asserted that they had made the telescope during the same time.
