Kapal Bharti is a popular breathing technique which is considered a part of the yoga asanas. The aim of this technique is to wake up the spirit. It falls under the category of the Pranayama and is one of the more difficult asanas. This asana is to be done in Padmasan or the lotus position. Begin by taking short breaths, breathe in and breathe out forcefully. Co-ordinate each of your breaths with the rhythmic movement of your stomach. Try to be as forceful as possible when you breathe out and pay attention to your navel. Once you get the hang of this, the movement of the stomach will definitely be synchronized with your breathing. Kapal Bharti should be repeated for ten to fifteen minutes taking breaks in the middle.
