I am doing a project/report about a career. And I want information on it so I was wondering if you could post what you know about actuaries and maybe post websites that have information on it. An actuary is an individual involved in risk determination. On the job the actuary makes heavy use of probability and statistics to determine the likelihood of an event occurrence. Many are employed in the insurance industry where they attempt determine the possibility of the insured dying before the company has made sufficient monies to pay off the policy.

My daughter almost became an actuary and changed her major to statistics. The above answers are good; however, they fail to mention that once an actuary has climbed the ladder of success by passing many tests, they become CEO's.
