Who Was Newton?

Answer Question

Sir Isaac Newton was a mathematician and physicist.  He was English and lived from 1642-1727.  He is still remembered because of his 'Laws of Motion' which he published in 1687.  In this publication he outlined three different laws.  The first explains how an object's motion does not change unless there is a force acting on it.  The second outlines how the motion of a heavier object requires more force to change it than the motion of one which is not so heavy.  The third law details how forces come in pairs and how if force is applied to an object, then that object produces an equal force in the opposite direction.   This explanation actually explains gravity and this is why he is still respected as a physicist today.

It is widely believed that he was inspired to write his explanation of gravity when an apple fell from a tree in his garden.
