Why Is Learning History Important?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Social Studies/History is a powerful subject because we are all a part of the human drama; we are not isolated and removed individuals who possess no empathy and
    apathy.  We are all connected!

The study of history is ultimately the investigation into ourselves.  We must have the courage to confront our own depths of depravity, yet also celebrate the moments where we possess hope and triumph over injustice.

Learning history is very important because it helps us learn about what worked well and what did not. If something worked really well in the past, then we are likely to repeat the same action. However, if the action in the past did not work well, then we can learn from the mistake. We can either change the action or not ever do it again.

Another reason studying history is important is that it helps us understand the world better. It helps us understand why things are happening and history can help us solve problems today.
Above all history is very interesting. It tells us a story of what life was like a long time ago. It is very interesting to see how things have either evolved or changed over time. Therefore, history is very important to study for many different reasons. Everyone finds their own reason for learning history.

Learning history can help us understand the change of the human society. To illustrate my point,  let look at the two major world wars. The wars bring loss of life and damage to the environment. The War only brings sorrow and suffer to human. Now we learned from the past and understand how important peace is. Therefore, understanding history help people to pursue better life.
