An interview is a mode of direct interaction between two or more people. The interviewer asks questions of the interviewee(s) to gain relevant information.

Interviews can be of two types:

1) Structured Interview: This is a formal way of conducting an interview, in which and questions are prepared before hand. Structured interviews are taken when you are clear about what you want to know, there is less wastage of time and more information gathered.

2) Unstructured interview: This is less formal and the beginning of the interview is planned but you progress according to the flow of answers. It is like a general discussion.

GOOD INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES:

1) Ask clear/understandable questions

2) Ask relevant questions (according to the level/expertise of the interviewee). Group relevant questions together.

3) Have good background knowledge yourself before you interview.

4) Be polite. Don't interrupt. Also know how and when to change a question so that the interviewer does not feel embarrassed, angry or criticized.

5) Dress appropriately.

6) The interviewer should be neutral (not biased), and flexible. Flexible means being able to make small changes to the questions according to the situation, or the way in which answers are coming.

7) Make an appointment first (if possible) so that the interviewee can be mentally prepared).

8) Choose an appropriate atmosphere to conduct the interview (where there are minimum interruptions).

The interview is used almost universally as part of the employee selection process. Not many of us have ever gotten a job without having gone through one or more interviews. Interviews can be valid and reliable selection tools, but they need to be structured and well organized. You can be more effective interviewer if you use the different suggestions. Review the job description and job specification. Be sure that prior to the interview. You have reviewed pertinent information about the job. Prepare structured set questions you want to ask from all job applicants. By having a set of prepared questions you ensure that you will get the information you want.

Furthermore you can ask different questions. You are better to compare all answers against a common base. Before meeting from a customer you can review his application for the job from the resume. By doing this you will be able to complete the picture of that candidate to whom you are going to interview. You can also begin to areas to explore during the interview. You can discuss with the application different issues interview are stressful for job applicants. Ask your questions and listen carefully to the candidate’s answer. So this is a good interview technique.

Preplanned Interviews:
In this type of interviews there is time limit for interview. And all the questions about he interviews are prepared before the interview. All the questions, which are related to the jobs and work, can be asked. Interview can be start from your personal information and then about your qualifications. It is very necessary that all the questions related to work should be clear in mind. What are the duties related to your work? What are the requirements of your job? How would you manage all the work assigned to you?

Non-Planned Interview:
In this type of interviews questions related to your duties must be asked but it is not necessary that all the questions will be related to your job. The questions can be related to general knowledge. The questions can be to assess your mental and physical abilities.
Questions can be related to assess your IQ level. This test can be judging your intelligence. The purpose is, if a duty assigned to you without any instruction then you are able to perform it well.
