Exactly How Many Aluminum Cans Does It Take To Make A Pound?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

It's around 31 - 34 cans per pound, but many people use 32 (16-oz) cans to the pound.  Modern cans weight slightly less than older cans because they're thinner and the end caps are made differently.  It used to be around 24 cans per pound.  And of course, it depends on what size they are and those last drops of soda will solidify and slightly add to their weight.

I came up with 27 12oz. Cans to make a pound
I rinse them out and empty them and then shake the remaining water out.
