Which Mammal Can Fly?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The only mammal to be blessed with the ability to fly is the bat.  Although there are few other mammals, which have somewhat loose skin between the joints of their elbows and their knees, nevertheless they could not fly.  They could only parachute down from high places while a bat possesses a full-fledged ability to fly.

The wings of bats constitute their front legs, their fingers very long and widely spread.  In between the fingers, there is thin skin that is of a leathery texture and is joined to their shoulders at the top and to their ankles at the bottom of their body.  The entire body of a bat is generally covered with fur nevertheless the wings are devoid of any fur and are cold to the touch.

It is generally night time when the bats choose to fly.  Some fly at the brink of twilight as well.  The days are reserved for sleeping while their nights are spent flying and searching for food.
