What Are The Most Essential Attributes Of A Blue Whale?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

As of now, the blue whale is the largest animal, the face of this Earth has ever seen.  Its length in particular could conveniently be estimated as the sum of the length of three long school buses stretching from one end to the other.  As far as weight goes, a blue whale weighs more than thirty elephants put together.  The tongue of the blue whale alone weighs as much as the weight of a baby elephant.

The blue whale is a mammal, which breathes air through two blow holes on the top of its head.  When the whale wants to breathe, it raises its head above the surface of the water to get some fresh air.  As far as the young ones of the blue whales go, their size is definitely smaller in comparison to their mothers but in the general scenario, they are as big and long as five bathtubs end to end.  The baby whale grows very quickly feeding on his mother's milk, gaining almost 200 pounds a day.

Under their skin, whales have a kind of fat called blubber, which keeps them warm in cold waters.  They feed on krill, which look like shrimp and are the size of a middle finger, feeding on thousands of pounds of krill each day.

The biggest threat for blue whales are whalers who are the actual hunters of blue whales.  Normally, they do it for obtaining blubber, which they use to make soap and use for machinery.  But due to perpetual hunting of whales, their species has tremendously reduced to a few.  In the light of this fact, decisions have been taken to encumber the practices of blue whale hunting.
