Akron is located in North-east, Ohio. It is south of Cleveland and north of Canton and is located in Summit county. It was founded in 1825 and is best known for its canals and rubber industry. Much of its growth over the years was because of its location on the Erie and Ohio canals.  Today, Akron is the home of BF Goodrich, Goodyear and Firestone Tires, thus giving it the name, "The Rubber City".  Akron is also known for its "first". It was the first to produce artificial fish bait, it was the home to the first US toy store, the first to have a graded school system in the US, and the first to host an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. The Akron professionals were also the first NFL Champions. Space suits and synthetic tires were also first introduced in the city of Akron. Akron, Ohio is also an interesting place to consider for a vacation. There are a lot of things to see and do in Akron, Ohio.
