    In the simplest terms, the term Java is defined as a programming language. On the other hand, the term J2EE is defined as an implementation of the Java programming language. J2EE is basically used for web-based applications or network-based applications.

    Java is an object-oriented program. It is a complete programming language. Java has two lives. One of the two lives of the Java programming language is that it is a stand-alone computer language which is used for general-purpose programming and the other life of Java is used as a supporting language which is used in the process of programming on the Internet.

    The term J2EE refers to a platform which is used in the process of building server-side applications. It is used in the enterprise edition in many business organisations. It is also used as an enterprise application and a distributed application through a model consisting of applications which are based on components.
