    The book "A Falcon Flies" is the first book in a series of books on the Ballantyne Family written by Wilbur Smith in the year 1980. It was also known by the name of Flight of the Falcon. The book had two children of Ballantyne, a missionary, as the protagonist of the book's plot.

    The missionary's daughter, Robyn, shares her father's missionary sentiments and wants to fight the slave trade,which is one of the protagonists and the other is her brother Zouga. Zouga is determined to go to Africa and make his fortune and is not interested in the missionary life of his father. The story begins with the Ballantyne being kidnapped somewhere in the subcontinent. The children follow there to locate him with their diverse pursuits in mind. This being one of Wilbur Smith's books; a number of unbelievable events occur and are passed of as bestseller material.
