What Is The Hottest Planet?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Although Mercury is the planet closest to the earth, Venus is the hottest planet and is named after the Roman Godess of love. This is because as mercury is so close to the sun, it does not have an atmosphere. Venus’s amosphere is composed of 96 % of carbon. One day on venus is equivalent to 118 earth days. The temperature there is above 400 degrees centigrade. The temperature there is high that the rain evaporates before even touching the ground. Its heat index is 450 degrees centigrade to 480 degrees centigrades.

The hottest planet is venus even though mercury is the closest to the sun. The hottest planet is venus is because it's  atmosphere is primarily composed of carbon dioxide - the primary green house gas -, which acts like a one-way door. The solar heat enters, but it cannot leave. Thus, an oven is created. This is why Venus has no water. When it rains, the water evaporates before even touching the ground!
