I Have A 97 Ford 7.3 Turbo Diesel. Is Bio-diesel From Cooking Oil Compatible With My Engine?

Answer Question

In 97 your diesel is a Direct injected Powerstroke. You can run a percentage of waste vegtable oil or Biodiesel and it will be fine. It will not ruin your engine reguardless of what people are told and hearsay. I run it im my 2000, which is the same engine, and have for about 50,000 miles and no problems.

You can run 100% biodiesel providing it doesn't get too cold where you are. I ran a 94 7.3diesel on 100% SVO for 3 years without a problem year round. If you make the biodiesel yourself make sure it will pass the 3/27 test and you should be fine.
