What Is The Largest Flying Bird?

The largest of all living birds can not fly at all, that is the African ostrich. The wandering albatross leads a parade of largest flying birds with a wingspread of over 3.5 meters. After that comes the condor; it has a wingspread of almost 3.5 meters. Next comes king vulture, which is found in South America, Mexico and Central America. It has a wingspread of up to 3 meters.

The white pelican comes after with a wingspread of over 2.5 meters. It is found in Canada and points south, and in the winter it is seen along the gulf coast of the United States. The great bustard, a large gooselike game bird related to the cranes, is next. It is found in parts of Europe, Asia and Africa with a wingspread of over 2.5 meters.

The U.S bald eagle is the next largest flying bird, having a wingspread up to 2.5 meters. The golden eagle is about the same size, as is the whooping crane. Then we come to the sand hill crane, with a wingspread of 2 meters. Last of all, the brown pelican is the same size as the buzzard, which also has the 2m wingspread. These are the largest flying birds in the world.
