    Carl Hiaasen cites John D. MacDonald as his main influence for him writing various books on crime and mystery. John D. MacDonald has also influenced many writers such as Stephen King and Spider Robinson. He has won many awards in his lifetime and was given the title of a grand master for the Mystery Writers of America in the year of 1972. He has written over hundred books in his lifetime and started writing in the year of 1945. His most famous series was the Travis McGee series. Travis McGee was the main fictional characters in the novels who was a popular private eye solving various crimes which usually took place in the state of Florida.

    This gave a lot of popularity to the author and received a lot of critical acclaim from many critics. His books are read till date and have been influencing a lot of writers.
