I'm sorry that your new garden isn't in a good shape, but don't worry - there are plenty of great ways to get this sorted. A fantastic way to create your dream garden, complete with decking, exotic plants and split levels (whatever you desire!) is to consult a landscape gardener who will design and create a perfect new garden.

You don't need to dig it all up to create a new garden. Work slowly with what is already there, remove the things that you don't wish to keep and add the things that you do. Adapt rather than starting afresh.

Another way to start you dream garden is to take it in baby steps. Pick one area at a time and just arrange your plants and colors for that space. I have such a large yard and found it overwhelming when I first moved into my home. So I picked my theme "French Country" with a touch of "English" using my favorite roses and boxwoods and evergreens. I especially like to plant in the areas that I can see from inside my home windows. I like to be able to sit at my dinning room table in the early mornings and enjoy a garden around a large tree in my front yard., or look out the back window at my lavender, roses hedge while I am at my computer desk. Its very important to me to be able to see the beauty that I have worked so hard for. Secondly, don't forget to plant items that will still be pretty to look at in the middle of Winter. Thats why I like the Evergreens and Boxwoods. They are so pretty covered in snow. Thirdly, decide on what color you are going to use as your base color. Mine is white. Then plant as much of this color as you can. After that you can put in contrasting colors that will compliment your setting.
