How Much Space Does A Shetland Pony Need?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Depending on how big the animal is I would say at least 5 acres of pasture land. That is for a small horse. A good size horse can grazed down 5 acres in little of no time.

A Draft or large horse needs approx 2 acres per horse, an ordinary horse needs around 1-1 3/4, a pony around the size of a Welsh Mountain Pony needs about 1 acre and a small pony like a Shetland Pony or a Falabella Miniature horse needs around 1/2- 1 acre per pony. If possible a bit more land. All are approximate land sizes.

About an acre (at the least) but the more space the better!
