How To Behave Before An Examiner?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

First of all, be on time. Have whatever you need (ID etc) to hand so you don't lose time looking for it. When you go into the exam room, smile and return the examiner's greeting in a friendly manner. If there is more than one, try to greet them all.

Oherwise, as long as you appear friendly and ready to answer questions, you shouldn't worry. It's not like a job interview; the examiner will focus on what you say and do more than on general impressions.

Having worked as an examiner myself I promise you that they are more interested in accuracy than speed. If you didn't understand the question, it's much better to ask for an explanation than to guess - there's no point giving a fast but wrong answer. If you get really nervous and feel you can't talk for a moment, just admit this honestly, give yourself a deep breath and start again. Good luck!
