Where Is Leeds Castle?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Leeds Castle is located at a distance of four miles to the southeast of Maidstone. Maidstone is a city in the county of Kent in England. The castle dates back to the year 1119. Before the castle was built, a manor house stood on the same property. The manor house dated back to the ninth century. The 12th-century Leeds castle is located to the east of the old village of Leeds. It is incorrect to confuse the place with the city of the same name. The city of Leeds is located in the county of Yorkshire.

The castle became the palace for King Edward I of England and his wife, Queen Eleanor of Castile in the year 1278. The Leeds Castle and the grounds on which the castle stands are now an important tourist attraction in the county of Kent. The castle has an aviary, a maze, a grotto, a golf course and a museum dedicated to dog collars (which is possibly the only one of its kind in the world). It is also the venue for an annual display of hot-air balloons.
