Frankie Fraser synonymous with subversive and unlawful activities in the UK has become one of the most well known faces of the past crime scenario in the country. Born on December 13, 1923 he has spent 42 years in prisons, more than half his life, served in various prisons for different durations of time.
Fraser whose full name was Francis Davidson Fraser though he was nick named 'Mad' having been certified insane on more than one occasion, had his first brush with the law in World War II times when he deserted from the army and committed several petty thefts taking advantage of the circumstances like blackouts and rationing; he was arrested in 1941 and served 15 months in a reformatory institution.
After the war he kept busy being involved in jewelry shop thefts and bank robberies which earned him several prison sentences; he was also associated for a time with the infamous Richardson Gang in the 1960s. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison for attacking a gangster Jack Comer in 1956 and was again sentenced to 10 years in 1967 for the murder of Richard Hart an associate of the Kray Twins.
His involvement in activities like prison riots, notably the Parkhurst riot in 1969, led to his confinement being increased. He was released in 1985 and since then has become something of a celebrity appearing on television shows and writing his autobiography which became a best seller.
