Can Blind People Go Hunting?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

They can't get a hunting license in Britain.  But in four states of the USA they can.   Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Texas.

There are various restrictions on when and how.  Most importantly, the blind person must have a guide/companion/accomplice/"spotter" with good vision, who can guide where they shoot.

The other thing is that blind shooters are sometimes allowed laser-equipped guns that make hitting the target much more likely.  There is legislation going thru in Texas to enable blind hunters to use lasers, soon.

Usually American hunters are not allowed to use laser targetting systems.  It would lead to hunters taking too many animals.  But it does seem fair to let blind people have a little help.

Michigan has so much embraced the disability rights of the blind to shoot, that they have a paid blind shooting education officer.
