Who Was Bud Abbott?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Bud Abbott was an American actor and comedian who was born on New Jersey on October 2, 1897 and died on April 24, 1974 in California. He is best known for his work with partner comedian Lou Costello in the show Abbott and Costello. Bud Abbott was always in show business, even as a baby. When he was born, both of his parents worked for Barnum and Bailey Circus, so being in the spot light was always something that came easy for him. Later on, as a teenager he dropped out of school and got a job working at Coney Island. He later worked in a box office for a movie theater where he met his wife, Betty. Betty was a burlesque dancer and comedienne. The two began working and performing together in a straight man act. Soon, their act was noticed by big time producers and that is how Bud Abbott got into show business. He is one of America's best-known and most-loved comedians of the 20th century.
