What Does My Name Michael Mean?

Answer Question

8 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

I'm sorry but there is no angel mentioned in the Bible by the name "Raphael".  In addition, I am a Christian and Michael is still considered an archangel not a saint.

Please people before you put answer out here for others to read...know what you are talking about so that you don't confuse someone else.

Moreover, don't take my word for it, look it up for yourself...you can go to www.biblegateway.com and it has various Bibles you can use to look up references and verses.

Hey whatever you people say, all things are left to freedom of thought. However, heavenly beings are not known by people, not at all, they are known by those that researched in Bibles, old literature and all, quoting if from the bible, it may mean that everything is bound to inference depending on one's spiritual understanding. If Jesus is the Arch angel, who cares and who rebukes, and who says no, who says yes and who disagrees? The question really is what does the name Michael mean? It means the one who is like God........who else is like God? Raphael, Gabriel, Michael, whatever the name issue is? It doesnt matter, please note the issue is........are you saved....by the Lord Jesus

The name Michael means "Who is like God?" It is a question, not a statement. The fact that it is a question changes the whole direction of the meaning

The name Michael in Hebrew means "one who is like God". It's derived from the name of the Archangel Michael who is now considered a saint in Christianity. It was Michael who led the armies of Gods angels against Lucifer and returned victorious. Lucifer was a fallen angel whose rebellion against God motivated by pride, was crushed by Michael. The term archangel itself means "Prince of the hosts".

He is one of the three arch angels Gabriel, Michael and Raphael mentioned in the Bible. He finds mention even in Islam along with Gabriel who was the bringer of revelation.

It was a name given to many kings of the Byzantine and Russian Emperors. It is now one of the commonest names of America and is extremely common in the Countries of Europe, in Australia, New Zealand and the catholic countries of Central and Latin America.

Take your own advice Happy2help. Raphael is mentioned in the book of Tobit which is canon in the Catholic Bible. Uriel is mentioned in the book of Enoch which is considered non canon by most if not all Christian denominations. Also Michael is a Catholic saint. While I am not Catholic I respect and think about others opinons in the hopes of gaining greater enlightenment about God or of correcting the mislead. Some people tend to forget that there are many denominations in Christianity.
