Birds are creatures of habit and like to suss out new things before they commit to it, so they are probably just a little suspicious of the bird table.
Sometimes cats (even if you don't have one, they will visit from down the street) can lurk near bird tables and this can act as a 'keep off' signal to feathered friends. Check the location of the bird table. If it is too near a hedge, they may be wary of cats hiding in it.
Conversely, they won't want it too exposed, so try to think about where would be the safest place to put it. Then leave it there for at least three weeks because this will give them a chance to weigh it up fully and they should start feeding from it after this length of time.
It has also been a very mild October and they may be getting enough food by their own means, so keep putting the food out and do not despair: they will come!
