    Hello

There are a lot of factors to determine value, mint mark and condition will need to be known. You can find the mint mark on the back of the coin between the 'D' and 'O' of the word Dollar. Look to see if it's S (for San Francisco), O (for New Orleans) of blank for Philadelphia.

Condition will be hard to determine. But is based on wear, etc. Do NOT clean the coin in any way, whatever you do.

Here are the mintages for that coin:
    1901 6,962,813
    1901 O 13,320,000
    1901 S 2,284,000

As you can see that New Orleans produced the largest coin for that year, so a 'O' mint mark is the most common, while the 'S' is rarer and worth more.

You could also look at www.morgandollarstore.net to get a sense of the Morgan silver dollar values on eBay. This should only be used a 'guide' and not as the final say in value. If the coin is in good shape, and you feel it's valuable, it might be worth sending it to a grading service like PCGS to have it graded and slabbed.

    Hope this helps
