What Are Health Safety Regulations?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Health and safety regulations are regulations which ensure that the health of the workers and employees are secured at the work place. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 forms the foundation of UK health and safety law.

Basically this law creates an obligation for the employers towards his employees and workers. This law ensures that the employees are provided with proper working conditions which are free from health hazards. By conducting proper risk assessments procedures, getting in safety representatives and by providing proper training to workers, health and safety can be ensured.

Health and Safety Commission (HSC) along with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the responsible for the enforcement of these laws. Failure of any employer to comply with these laws is a serious offence and may lead to prosecution of the employers by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). A few examples which come under the scope of health and safety regulations are ventilation, lighting, sanitation and cleanliness.
