Making sure that the kitchen is up to a reasonable standard is a good idea if you want to sell your house, as the attractiveness and functionality of both the kitchen and bathroom are major factors in whether a house will sell for a good price or not.

If the kitchen is already pleasant and in good condition, it may not actually be cost effective to re-vamp it at this stage. If, however, it is looking a little worse for wear, then it might be a good idea to spend some money to bring it up to a reasonable standard. But it is not recommended that you spend a great deal of money doing up the kitchen to a high specification that may be dependent upon individual taste. Remember that this house will soon not be your house - your potential buyers have to be able to visualise themselves living there.

Make sure your kitchen is clean and free from clutter and personal effects when potential buyers are viewing - they need to be able to see this kitchen as their kitchen.

Investing money in a house you are about to sell will not raise its value. The value of the house depends more on the area in general, and housing prices. Ensure that your kitchen is up to scratch and has no major problems. I know of many people who replace the kitchen after a couple of years in a house anyway - I certainly did in mine.

It isn't generally a good idea to spend a great deal of money on renovations if you are deciding to sell. it may only cost you money that you don't really need to spend.
A well equipped kitchen is a good selling point but most people want to put their own 'stamp' on any property that they buy. You might spend alot of money and the purchaser could decide to rip the kitchen out for one of their own choosing.

Better to make sure the present kitchen looks attractive with a few nice additions , try to make it look larger by removing any excess objects and save the money for your new home because money spent on this kind of renovation is rarely profitable in reality.
