    Emile Verhaeren was the author of the famous poetry collection of early 1900s, named 'Belgium's agony'. He was a Belgian poet. Emile Verhaeren used to write in the French language.  In the collection of 'Belgium's agony', he showed an upward concern for social problems.

    Emile Verhaeren was born on 21st of May in the year of 1855 at Saint Amand Lez-Pures in Belgium. He produced a vast collection of more than thirty poetry anthologies. All of those were outstanding for their range and strength as well as their subjects. In the year of 1883, his debut book was brought out in the name of 'Les Flamandes'. It was contained with aggressively naturalistic poems. Later his poems were more concerned about the growing social problems. Flanders, human energy and his affectionate sympathetic love for his wife were the subjects or themes of his creation.

    'The sunlit hours' was published in the year of 1896 and 'The evening hours' in 1911. These were among his most popular works. Plays and books of art were also two major subjects he worked with. Emile Verhaeren was one of the groups in Brussels; those brought the artistic and literary renaissance of the 1890s. He died on 27th of November in the year of 1916 at Rouen in France.
