When Was The First Cricket World Cup Held?

Answer Question

Cricket has been a game that has slowly been gaining popularity in the world. From very modest beginnings, when a few countries were playing it, now there are quite a few countries where the game is played. The current world champions of cricket are Australia, though they recently lost their #1 world ranking to another country that has made strong progress ever since they were allowed re-entry into the cricket fraternity, South Africa. South Africa was a strong team before it was banned in the previous century for its apartheid policies. They were re-admitted to the cricket world in 1992.

The numero uno tournament in cricket is the World Cup, which is played once in four years. Earlier, when England was where the game was headquartered, the World Cup was played only in England. This trend continued till the third World Cup, in 1983, when India emerged the unexpected champions. The next World Cup was hosted by India and Pakistan, and was won for the first time by Australia. The first cricket World Cup was held in the year 1975 in England, and the world champions in that inaugural edition, as well as the next one, was West Indies.
