How Do You Do "Upside-down" Tomatoes?

I've heard of people growing tomatoes out of the bottom of a hanging bucket. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Any tips for a beginner?

I did it, kind of neat (cation: It was heavy). I had a 5 gal bucket (think from drywall compound) cleaned out. Put 3 holes in the bottom, they don't have to be large holes, just big enough to fit the stem and leaves of a young tomatoe plant through (about 2-3 inches). I started the holes with a drill and then used a utility knife to make them the 2-3 inch kind-of-diameter. Put soil in the bucket about 1/4 full, a little messy but a lot of the soil stay in the bucket. Cleared  a funnel shape of soil out at the holes and put the plants in the bucket, pulling the stem and leaves though the hole (roots in the bucket).  I was able to filled the bucket with soil about 3-4 inches from the top by placing just an edge of the bucket on a table with the plants dangling down.  I have the cover to the bucket so I just set it on top.  As I said this was heavy. So much that the metal hadle ripped through the plastic bucket on a windy day.  My son has a book on knots and loops with rope so we were able to use the lip of the bucket and the rope to make a new handle.
