William Shakespeare was born under the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First, one of the strongest monarchs Britain has ever seen, in the year 1564. The exact date of birth of William Shakespeare is not known; what is known is that he was baptized on the 23rd of April of that year 1564. He died on the 23rd of April 1616. Taking into account the traditional three days required for christening it is believed that he was born on and died on the same day. He was born in the city of Stratford-upon-Avon. His parents were John Shakespeare and Mary Arden.
In his brief life time he wrote around 154 sonnets and approximately 38 plays. He was popular for his works in his life time and became a legend after his death. Shakespeare was more than just a writer he was an actor as well along with being the part owner of a theatrical playing company; much like a studio mogul in this day and age.
