    The movie selected from a field of 75 films to do the honours was American Cousins by Scottish film director, Don Coutts.

    The BAFTA award winning film was shot in Scotland went on to win two prestigious Angel Awards for Best Script and Best Cast during the four day Monaco film festival.World famous Celtic band, Capercaillie performed the musical score which was written by band member, Donald Shaw. The Angel Awards are new prizes and set to rival the likes of the Oscars and the Palme D'Or.

    Coutts is originally from the Highlands of Scotland and now bases his production company, Move On Up in Cromarty, Ross-shire. He runs his small production company along with his partner, Lindy.

    American Cousins centres on a Italian Scots family whose American cousins pay a visit. It is a romantic comedy which plays off the culture clash of Scots and Americans of Italian extraction. It stars Gerald Lepowski, Danny Nucci and Shirley Henderson.
