Are Exsisting Burn Holes In Carpet Normal Wear And Tear In A Rental Housing?

Answer Question

Burn holes or tear in carpeting is NOT, normal wear and tear nor is greasy laden carpet; ....use your common sense.. Normal wear and tear is just what it means; ....normal, considerate every day foot traffic.   Existing burn holes in carpet; ....was it there when you first moved in?   Was a  written walk thru inventory of property condition taken before you took occupancy, and do you have a copy of such?  Unless your landlord acknowledges such condition already existed prior to your occupancy,  or your landlord gives you a pass; ...you are responsible

Burn holes in the carpet is not normal wear and tear, your landlord can hold you responsible for the burns if you have no proof that they were there when you moved in it can easily be blamed on you, did you not see them when you did the walk through,......the best to you
