There might be - try this for size:

Abdul Hasan Ali Al-Masudi was a 10th-century Arab historian who travelled much of the world and wrote a 30-volume history of it.

As far as the pyramids were concerned, he wrote that first a magic papyrus was placed under any stone block ( which weighed several tons) that needed moving.

Then a metal rod was used to strike the block, which caused it to rise up and move about fifty metres along a path with metal poles on either side. The process was repeated as necessary until the block was where the builders wanted it.

How much truth these is in that explanation is a matter of conjecture. After all, the pyramids were already thousands of years old when Al-Masudi wrote his explanation.

However, that's not to say there can't be an element of truth in what he wrote, because the pyramids weren't the only structures made from huge and heavy stone blocks.

For example, the Temple of Jupiter at Baalbek in Lebanon contains stone blocks that are estimated to weigh 1,000 tons.
