    Chattanooga is a city in Tenessee, located on the border of Georgia, to the southeast of Nashville. It is a principal railway station and harbour for the Tennessee River. The city houses an approximate total of 154,000 people. It was founded as a trading centre in the year 1815.

    It played a strategic role in the Civil War and was ultimately occupied by the Union Forces in November, 1863. It was an important communication point and ultimately saw showdown in the battles of Chattanooga and Chickamauga.

    It has developed into a vital hub, industrially. It is a leading producer of textiles, metal products and machinery.

    It is a tourist destination as well, with picturesque mountains and cultural and historical spots. The Chattanooga National Park, Tennessee Aquarium, sanctuaries, heritage structures are some of the features of this city. It also boasts of an opera and an art gallery.
