Black bear hamsters are the mutants of Syrian hamsters. They are known to be the friendliest hamsters of all. But still, some of them might have different personality traits due to past mishandling or experience. So they might bite if handled improperly. So when you go to buy a hamster. Hold it in your hands for a while before deciding about it.

Most pets when received at a pet store don't get much one on one time with a person, they don't get much handling. Just like any other pet yes they can bite. The more you hold them the more they get used to you the less they will bite!
