Jose Vasconcelos was the author of his five volume autobiography named 'A Mexican Ulysses'. It was published in the year of 1962. Jose wrote the autobiography between the years of 1935-1959. It is one of the most excellent books on Socio-cultural studies of 20th century Mexico ever.
Jose Vasconcelos was a Mexican educationist, politician, philosopher as well as an essayist. He campaigned for the revolutionary leaders of Mexico such as Francisco Madero and Pancho Villa. He was elected as the minister of education from the year of 1920 to 1924. Jose made the first move with important reforms in the country's school system. Especially he expanded his reforms with the rural school development programs.
In the year of 1929 he was disposed from the presidential post. But his political activism enforced him into send away several times. As a philosopher he used to consider the indigenous Indian culture as exceeding western culture.
Joes Vasconcelos was died on 30th of June in the year of 1959 in Mexico City.
