I figured out a way to help you. I think it must be firmware problem since you don't have ruined it physically. Fistly you can make a backup for your ipod by some application (i prefer Aniosoft ibackup) and then update ipod's firmeware to its new version. When you updated it you can recover and restore the backup back to your ipod. Good luck.
