    The Vardon trophy is awarded in golf. It is annually awarded to the golf professionals who have the best scoring average of that very year. The award is given by the Professional golfers of America.

    The Vardon trophy is named by the name of the famous English golfer Harry Vardon. He was British golfer of early 1900s. Harry Vardon was born on 9th May in the year of 1870 at Jersey in Channel Islands of England. He started his earlier career as a manservant for an affluent amateur golfer on the Jersey Island. Later he learned golf. Harry Vardon was turned to be a professional golfer when he was twenty years of age.

    Vardon was a technical modernizer of golf.  He won the British Open for six times. It was a record of that time. In the year of 1896, he won the British Open for the first time, after that he won in the years of 1898, 1899, 1903, 1911 and finally in 1914. He won the United States Open once in his life time and it was the year of 1900.

    Harry Vardon was died on 20th of March of the year of 1937 at Hertfordshire in England.
